CHM is in the process of developing its project “ROAD SURFACES WITH ELECTRIC VEHICLE WARNING SOUNDS”

Sound measurement

The project is financially supported by the CDTI (Centre for Industrial Technology Development), a body attached to the Spanish Ministry for the Economy and Competitiveness, and also receives funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

To develop this project, CHM has been working in partnership with the Department of Physics, Systems Engineering and Signal Theory at the University of Alicante and with CTCON.

This road safety project involves designing a tarmac surface that can produce warning sounds when electric vehicles pass over it, thereby alerting pedestrians of their presence. The aim is to prevent pedestrians being run over in towns and cities by the increasing numbers of silent electric vehicles.
