CHM launches the #ellaconstruye initiative to make women in the construction sector more visible.

- On the occasion of International Women's Day, we have launched an awareness campaign aimed at customers, suppliers and staff.

- Women accounted for 12% of CHM's total workforce, three points above the industry average in 2019

Construction is the economic activity that employs the fewest women in Spain. The 2019 labor force survey shows that the percentage of women working in this sector is around 9%. For this reason, we have promoted the #ellaconstruye campaign, an initiative that aims to impact both our own workforce and the companies and institutions with which we have an economic relationship.

The purpose of this campaign is to normalize the female role in the sector, which, in the case of trades such as masonry, installations or machinery driving, still have a much lower than average female presence (less than 1%). In occupations such as engineering, building and architecture, the presence of women is becoming increasingly common.

In this sense, and with the aim of celebrating International Women's Day, we want to make visible the female role in the construction sector by dedicating the first week of March to our female workers. To this end, from the 2nd to the 8th of this month, we will publish on our LinkedIn page the experience of women working in the company. In this way we intend to raise awareness of the value and relevance of their daily work.

Equality Plan: an essential tool in the sector
At CHM, women represent 12% of the total number of employees. And although it is three points above the sector average, we have implemented an Equality Plan that aims to gradually and steadily increase this percentage.

The company's Equality Plan focuses on increasing the presence of women and also on reinforcing its commitment to guaranteeing equal opportunities in access to the company's job offers. To this end, it contemplates several implementation phases that begin with the development of the #ellaconstruye campaign and continue with a series of internal and external actions aimed at this end.

There is a lot of talk about the presence of women in management, but in the construction sector we have to work much harder on technical profiles, and this is where the Equality Plan plays a fundamental role. Training, conciliation measures, visibility and equal conditions and opportunities are some of the measures proposed in this Plan.
