CHM and the UPV Analyze the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Future of Construction and Infrastructure

Digital transformation is no longer a future trend in construction; it's a reality that is changing how infrastructure is planned, executed, and managed. With this vision, CHM celebrated alongside the Valencian Polytechnic University a new stage of the CHM-Digitaliza Chair, focused on Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and digitalization applied to the sector.

The day, held last May 7 in the ETSICCP of the UPV, gathered professionals, researchers, students, and experts from the construction field to share experiences, challenges, and new technological opportunities that are already impacting the sector's day-to-day operations.

A space to connect technology and construction

The institutional opening was led by Luis Pallares, director of the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineering, Channels, and Ports of the UPV.

The conference was led by our colleague Lorena Palomo, head of CHM's R&D&I department, who highlighted the importance of creating collaborative spaces between universities, companies, and industry professionals.

We also had a presentation this morning by David Nicolas, Director of Construction at CHM, who offered a practical look at how AI, automation, and digitalization are beginning to integrate into project management and the daily reality of construction sites.

Key topics of the conference

Throughout the various presentations, issues related to the following were addressed:

  • Artificial Intelligence applied to construction
  • Automation and Robotics
  • Digital Transformation and Data Management
  • Infrastructure Conservation and Maintenance
  • New technologies applied to construction and planning

All of this is approached from a technical and practical perspective, with a focus on the real challenges facing the industry.

Participating experts

The day also featured the participation of prominent professionals and specialists:

  • Raúl Hussein (ITI)
  • Julia Real, a professor at the UPV
  • Monserrat Roa Franco (Federal Highway Administration)
  • Antonio Serrano Actors Rey Juan Carlos University

Each presentation provided insight into different approaches to how technological innovation is helping to transform construction processes and infrastructure management.

One of the highlights

One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of the White Paper on Robotics in Construction by PTEC, carried out by Juan Jesús Muñoz.

The session concluded with a panel discussion among the speakers, during which they discussed:

  • The Future of AI Is Taking Shape
  • The technological challenges facing the sector
  • The Evolution of Automation on Construction Sites
  • The Impact of Digitalization in the Coming Years

Sharing knowledge to build the future

Through initiatives like this one, we at CHM remain committed to creating spaces where universities, businesses, and professionals can share knowledge, drive innovation, and work together to analyze how the construction sector will evolve.

Because transforming the future of infrastructure also involves bringing together talent, technology, and experience.
