The Spanish Association of Asphalt Mixtures Manufacturers (ASEFMA) has awarded the company the sole recognition for sustainability in asphalt paving..

The project “Reflective Pavements for Climate Change Mitigation,” developed by the R&D team at CHM Infraestructuras, received the “Best Environmental Practices” (MPA) award on May 30th. This is the most important national recognition in this field, presented by the Spanish Association of Asphalt Mixture Manufacturers (ASEFMA). The award was accepted in Madrid by Vicente Vilanova, President of CHM.

The jury, composed of members of the technical committee of the XII National Conference of ASEFMA, evaluated the projects presented in this call according to criteria of originality, innovation, impact on the sector, and environmental improvements. They also assessed the presentation of the practice, the graphic material, and the report. The three finalist projects (CHM Infraestructuras, Composan/CIRTEC, and Alberto Moral/UAX) have been recognized as the best environmentally developed practices in Spain for asphalt mixtures.

CHM research reveals that reflective pavements contribute to CO emissions reduction.2, due to their impact on energy savings for urban heating, cooling, and lighting, and they mitigate the effects of excessive summer heat in urban areas, which translates into improved comfort and health for pedestrians.

The “Best Environmental Practices” (BEP) Award is a sector-wide initiative aimed at highlighting the significant investment in R&D that companies are making to improve asphalt mixes. The goal is to provide more sustainable and environmentally responsible materials that offer greater technical value and are economically viable. This award responds to the growing environmental awareness of asphalt manufacturing companies, as well as those involved in its production, transportation, and application.
