We chat with Froilán Luzón, site manager, who has been with the team for over 24 years. His career exemplifies CHM's evolution and, above all, the human value behind every project.
Trajectory and beginnings
Q. How were your first steps in CHM?
“I started my career at CHM, and there's been no other company. From day one, I felt like part of a big family.”
Q. What do you remember about those early years?
“I was fortunate to be welcomed by a team that helped me integrate, learn, and feel comfortable. Those years were crucial for growing as a professional.”
What motivated you to join?
“When I had the opportunity to join, I learned about an old colleague from my career who was already working at CHM. Everything he told me about the company further encouraged me: the atmosphere, the professionalism, and the vision that was perceived.”
First milestonesFroilán remembers his works in with special affection Andalucía and, later on, their participation in the Elche–San Fulgencio road widening, where he was able to direct a comprehensive project with his own CHM teams: earthmoving, soil-cement, and asphalt plants.
“It was a very complete experience. We worked with our earthmoving, cement-soil, and asphalt teams. The result was a success, but the most valuable part was the learning and the satisfaction of a job well done.”
Experience and values
P. You've seen the company grow. How would you describe that evolution?
“When I started, we all knew each other. We were a small family. Today, CHM has grown a lot, modernized, and adapted. This is evident in the management systems, R&D&i developments, digitalization, and the professionalization of all processes.”
P. If you had to choose key values of CHM…
“Seriousness, efficiency, constant development, and above all, a commitment to its employees.”
The human factor also holds a central place in his speech:
“The value of personal relationships is essential. Nurturing connections with colleagues creates friendly environments, and that directly impacts our well-being and the results of each project.”
Challenges and learnings
One of the biggest professional challenges you remember was in the play Elche–San Fulgencio, optimizing CHM's own resources:
“It wasn't just about managing the construction, but also coordinating our teams and materials to ensure everything ran with maximum efficiency. It was a double challenge, and we overcame it thanks to the involvement and professionalism of the team. I'll never forget the help of Joaquín García, ‘The Maestro’, an exceptional manager from whom I learned a great deal.”
But if there was one work that particularly marked him, it was the execution of Acoustic barriers on the High-Speed line between Caudete and Alicante:
“It was a demanding project, with very tight deadlines and a lot of pressure. Even so, we managed to meet the objectives and receive the client's congratulations. That satisfaction is unforgettable.”
Vision and Future
Adaptability and solvency: “CHM has proven to be up to the task where other companies have given up. Their Adaptability is one of their greatest strengths.”
Roadmap “The future involves continuing to bet on Continuous improvementthe sustainability and the Climate change adaptation. There will be less new construction but a greater need to maintain and optimize existing infrastructure. CHM is prepared to take on that role.”
Advice for beginners: “Try to make your workplace a place of enjoyment. Only then can you give your best.”

If you had to define CHM in one word…
R. “Although I would use two, I would say that it's my house. After more than 24 years, that's exactly how I feel.”
