The section of the A-33 highway between Jumilla and Yecla opened to traffic on October 5th. It was in December 2014 when the then Minister of Public Works, Ana Pastor, laid the first stone of the work.
Of the 23.4 kilometers built, 7.5 kilometers were built by CHM in a joint venture with Padelsa and had a budget of €18,277,432.52 (excluding VAT). The work was completed 7 months ahead of the initial deadline set by the Government of Spain.
The activation of the three open sections between Jumilla and Yecla joins the two sections between Blanca and Jumilla that were put into service in August 2012 and which will continue from Yecla to La Font de la Figuera. When all sections of the A-33 are in service, this highway will benefit traffic connecting the Middle and Upper Vinalopó with Murcia and Valencia.
The inauguration was attended, among others, by the Minister of Development, Mr. Íñigo de la Serna, the President of the Region of Murcia, Mr. Fernando López Miras, and the mayor of Yecla, Mr. Marcos Ortuño.
