CHM is the awardee, after competitive bidding, of the “Pre-commercial Public Procurement for the design, implementation, and experimentation with innovative technology prototypes related to anti-fog protection systems on the A-8 highway, between Mondoñedo and A Xesta. Province of Lugo”-Lot 2-.
This public purchase was promoted by the Mitma, with direct application in the area of activity of the Galicia State Highways Department.
Specifically, it concerns demonstrating the feasibility of the fog isolation and displacement system developed by the company, as a continuation of the project. FOGLIGHT-8 framed within the corresponding call for innovative public procurement (IPP).
This performance aims to resolve the problem caused by the dense fog, in the O Fiouco area, between approximately kilometer posts 545+680 and 549+680, exceeding current market measures and requiring a certain degree of Technological innovation and development, to validate its future implementation on the road to minimize the adverse effects on traffic caused by dense fog.
The main ones objectives from the performance are:
– Maximize infrastructure utilization, saving travel times, fuel consumption, and associated external effects
Minimize adverse effects on road safety, ensuring safe driving conditions and reducing accidents.
– Minimize adverse effects on traffic by eliminating costs associated with closures and detours.
– Solution effectiveness, suitability for field implementation, compliance with current regulations, maintenance of road safety conditions, maximization of road functionality and operation, efficient investment and maintenance costs, and zero or reduced environmental impact.
The aforementioned Pre-commercial Public Procurement (PCP) initiative is 80% co-financed through the Ministry of Science and Innovation’s Innocompra Program, using funds from the European Regional Development Fund (2014–2020). This initiative contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) with which Mitma is committed, specifically to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
